HOW THEY WORK

 

Rotary Compressors are hermetically sealed. This means that the Compressor and the Motor are enclosed inside a welded casing and they are connected by a common shaft. They are widely used for refrigerators, deep freezers and air conditioning applications because of their compact and portable design.

The cylinder volume is separated into a high pressure side and a low pressure side by the vane that is located in the cylinder shot. As the eccentric crankshaft rotates, the roller also spins, which takes the refrigerant gas into the cylinder.

The roller rotates within the cylinder, traveling in an orbital path. This motion is what compresses the refrigerant gas.

The separation of the high and low side pressure is maintained by the vane and by the hydrodynamic sealing. The hydrodynamic sealing is dependent on clearance and the surface finish of the cylinder until the designated cylinder pressure is reached.

The vane is essential for maintaining the pressure differential within the cylinder. Work is being done by the cylinder components at all times while the compressor is in operation. Suction and compression can even occur simultaneously.
