Panasonic RS Series Relays are High Frequency Signal Relays with a Single Pole Double Throw (1 Form C) contact arrangement with both 50 and 75 Ohm Impedance matching options which can switch up to 3GHz transmission signal and 10 Watt carrying power.
RS Series Relays are available in both Through-Hole and Surface Mount terminal options and have dimensions that are 14.0 x 8.6 x 7.2 mm.
RS Series Relays are also available with a single-side stable type as well as both 1-coil and 2-coil latching operation types.
In order to achieve excellent high frequency characteristics, Panasonic High Frequency Relays have a unique contact-point structure that is different from that of General Purpose Signal Relays. The contact point of Panasonic High Frequency Relays is surrounded by a metal shield plate that is connected to multiple earth terminals which would be connected to ground on the PC Board. The contact points are designed as a double-break. When the contact point is OFF, the contact spring will touch with the shield plate. The adoption of this complicated structure is what ensures excellent electrical isolation.
Microwave devices are essential components for switching high frequency signals in measuring instruments, mobile phone base stations, and radios. In measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers, these Relays are able to control high frequency signals for transmitting and receiving circuits as well as fulfill the long life requirements of these devices.
For mobile base stations, High Frequency Relays can be used to switch in a redundant circuit for the tower mounted amplifier in case a power loss occurs. In wireless LAN applications, Relays can be used to switch the transmitting and receiving signal of a ZigBee module or other transceiver device.
